Basement waterproofing in Hilliard
Hilliard grew fast in the 1990s and 2000s, and many of those basements are now old enough for their first real water problem.

The age of the house matters
A basement built twenty-five or thirty years ago has had time for its footer drain to silt up, its sump pump to wear out and its poured walls to develop the shrinkage cracks every concrete wall gets. None of that is a sign of bad building; it is what time does to drainage in clay soil.
Older homes near Old Hilliard have a different set of issues: block or stone foundations and a lot of mortar joints for water to find.
Neighborhood ponds and high water
Many Hilliard subdivisions were built around stormwater retention ponds. They manage runoff for the neighborhood, but homes on low lots near them can see a sump that runs more in wet seasons. A correctly sized pump and a battery backup matter more there.
What we usually recommend
- Check the sump, its check valve and where it discharges.
- Inject leaking cracks in poured walls.
- Add an interior drain section where one wall seeps along the joint.
- Fix downspouts and grade on the wet side.

A question we hear in Hilliard
My sump runs a lot near the pond. Is that normal? It can be in wet seasons on low lots. What matters is that the pump is sized for it and backed up.
