Crawl space encapsulation cost in Columbus
Most of the price is set by the size and height of the space, whether water collects in it, and whether it needs active drying.

About these numbers: they are planning ranges for central Ohio homes, not quotes. Your price comes from an inspection of your basement and is given in writing before work starts.
Planning ranges
| Scope | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Vapor barrier on the floor only | $1,500 – $4,000 |
| Full encapsulation: floor, walls, seams, vents | $5,000 – $12,000 |
| Crawl space dehumidifier, installed | $1,500 – $3,000 |
| Small sump or drain for standing water | $1,200 – $3,000 |
| Debris and old insulation removal | $500 – $2,000 |
Five things that move the number
Square footage
More floor and wall means more liner and labor.
Height
Very low spaces are slow to work in.
Water
Standing water needs a drain or sump before the liner.
Clean-out
Old plastic, debris and wet insulation have to come out.
Drying
A dehumidifier where readings stay high.
Wood repair
Damaged framing is a separate line, found on inspection.
Floor-only or full encapsulation?
A plastic sheet on the dirt cuts ground moisture but leaves walls, vents and rim joists open to humid outdoor air. Full encapsulation seals the space. If the crawl space connects to a basement or living area, the full job usually pays off in drier air upstairs.
Questions
How long does encapsulation take?
Most central Ohio crawl spaces take one to three days.
Do I need to close my vents?
In a full encapsulation, yes. With only a floor liner, closing vents can trap moisture. It depends on the plan.
Will the liner tear?
Reinforced liners are made to be walked and crawled on, and seams are taped and overlapped.
